If we've learned anything over 2020 and 2021, it's to be prepared for the curveballs life throws at you (I am not an avid baseball fan). Play it safe regarding your health, but look to the future with optimism!

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I personally am ecstatic to get my Pfizer booster shot this Thursday, graduate high school, start college in the fall, and to travel again! Hopefully, life will be a little bit more normal so I can truly enjoy everything to come.

Are you like me- ready to enjoy life, but trying to be conscious about your health?

Here are the best ways to keep yourself safe while you travel in 2022, brought to you by a 17-year-old travel blogger who is indeed going to cite her sources.

  1. GET YOUR VACCINE.

This one may be obvious, but almost half of the country hasn't done it yet. The best way to protect yourself (not just while traveling) and those around you is to get that shot in your arm! Visit vaccines.gov for more info and/or to book your shot, or text your zip code to 438829 to find a vaccine site in your area.

If you've gotten your vaccine, go you! If you're 16 and up, be sure to book your booster shot- especially if you're immunosuppressed like myself.

There I am after both of my vaccine doses. I was quite happy, and I'll be sure to update this post with my third selfie for my third dose. (Edit- booster shot received 12/16/2021 :))

2. At the very least, wear a mask and wear it right.

If somehow my post hasn't convinced you to get your vaccine, wear a mask. Federally, it is quite literally required for you to do so if you're using public transportation; meaning if you're going to a train station, airport, or anything else like that, grab a mask and pull it up OVER YOUR NOSE. Click here for some of my favorite masks.

Here I am walking around Buffalo, NY- my first post-quarantine trip in August 2021.

3. Keep track of COVID protocols based on location.

Depending on where you're going, how you're getting there, and the extent of your trip, additional testing/quarantine may be required for you to enjoy your trip. So, based on where and when- plan accordingly. For example, I spent Christmas 2020 in Canada with my grandfather before he passed away, which required a negative test result no more than 72 hours beforehand, at the border, and 2 weeks of quarantine. At the border, I was given a kit to test at my place of quarantine on a Zoom call with a nurse. So, my family and I got tested 3 days beforehand, got our negative tests the day before we left, and drove 10 hours to middle-of-nowhere Ontario on December 9. This worked perfectly- I was doing school online at the time, and we got out of quarantine just in time to enjoy the holidays.

Click here and here for country-specific guidelines, and here for state guidelines if you're traveling in the US.

4. Most of all, enjoy yourself!

It's your first time traveling since pre-COVID times! So, I hope your masked, vaccinated self has as much fun as possible- while following guidelines to keep yourself and those around you safe.

Hope everyone has the most wonderful of holiday seasons, and see you again soon :)
